"Midnight Arrhythmia," a 144-line Poem in Action, Spectacle

If you're inclined to read one poem of mine in 2023,, please consider reading the newly published "Midnight Arrhythmia." Addressed to my son, the poem's 144 lines are part lullaby and part letter. Within them I try to quantify--via an on-going heart issue--what it is we leave behind. The poem might fit within that strangest of American poetic traditions: the self-elegy.

I'm indebted to my old friend, D.A. Powell, for co-editing this issue of Action, Spectacle (where it appears), and to Adam Day for his efforts to bring it all into the world.
