Robinson Jeffers Publications

I’ve been a reader of Robinson Jeffers since I first visited the coastal village he called home, Carmel-by-the-Sea as a tween, returning—through the generosity of my extended family—throughout my life. I’ve toured Tor House and Hawk Tower on a number of occasions; my son joined me there in 2024. So it’s with real joy that I’ve come—in the last year—to know Tim Hunt, one of Jeffers’s most dedicated scholars. I’ve read Tim’s work for years, and I’m deeply indebted to his editions of Jeffers’s poetry.

I’m grateful too that Tim interviewed me for his series, “Talking the Line: Poems, Poets, & Poetry,” a part of Robinson Jeffers Now. We discussed Jeffers & Pound, my favorite Jeffers poems, and poetry more generally. He also invited me to write about “Continent’s End” as part of the Centennial Reflections on Roan Stallion, Tamar, and Other Poems. That essay appeared in Jeffers Studies alongside essays by Dana Gioia, David Lehman, Christopher Benfey, Katie Peterson, Rachel Hadas, and my old friend, Jesse Nathan, among others.

In the next year or so, I’ll even publish a peer-reviewed scholarly essay—a first for me!—on Jeffers and Pound.
