Best-Seller in Oklahoma & California Journalism Award

Rarely could two award feel less, well, discordant, but last summer—in the span or about one month—I received second place in the California Journalism Awards for Fine Arts Writing/Reporting (Div. 4) for a piece I wrote about the awfulness of the world. Shortly thereafter, following a delightful reading with my wife in her hometown of Tulsa, as orchestrated by Boris Drayluk, Annie and I both wound up on the Oklahoma best-sellers list for, like, one week.
